Frequently asked questions
How do I know bank details on an invoice are real?
Check them here before you pay. Businesses on our register list their real accounts with us, so we can tell you whether the details are theirs. If the business is not on the register, call it on a number from its own website and ask it to read the account number to you.
Someone emailed to say their bank details have changed. What should I do?
Do not pay the new account yet. Call the business on a number you already had, not one from that email, and ask them to confirm the change. Changed bank details by email are the most common way invoice fraud works, often from a real mailbox that has been taken over.
Do you keep the bank details I type?
No. They are turned into a one-way fingerprint on our server and compared, then forgotten. If they are not the account of the business you said sent them, that business is told the last 4 digits, so it can warn its customers.
